Julius Wellhausen was a German biblical scholar known for his analysis of the structure and dating of the first five books of the Hebrew Bible. He studied at the University of Gottingen and went on to be an Old Testament professor. His major writings showed that he believed that Moses was not the author of the Torah but instead it was the result of oral traditions that evolved over time. He is the creator of the documentary hypothesis, which our documentary is centered around.
